ANNUNCIATION RING
In this assignment, our goal was to design a ring based on architecture. I chose Frank Lloyd Wright’s design of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Milwaukee, as it has fascinated me since I was a child. We illustrated our ideas and then recreated them in Rhinoceros 3D, where they were then printed in the material of our choice through Shapeways.
ANNUNCIATION GREEK ORTHODOX CHURCH, MILWAUKEE
This building is very special to me. My grandfather, George Janis, helped establish this church for the Greek community in the Wauwatosa/Milwaukee area. Additionally, the architect behind Annunciation is Frank Lloyd Wright - one of my personal favorites. This church was one of Wright’s last projects. Construction began in 1956 and completed in 1961, after his death. Annunciation has been listed on the National Register of Historic Places since 1974.
